Grandpa was an incredible photographer. He’d travelled the world taking photos. But, he'd never mentioned photography or his overseas trips. After a finding a box of his photos in a cupboard I had to find out more.
So, I made a website...
The response to the website was overwhelming. Heartfelt messages poured in from around the world. Then, Grandpa started turning up in the news. The emails, comments and media requests tripled.
People from around the world sent clues, maps and photos. From these, some of the photos seemed to be found. While others had people arguing online about their locations.
There was only one way to know for sure where Grandpa had shot each photo.
I quit my job to go on a trip to find as many photos as possible. I slept in hostels and hire cars, across USA, Europe and Asia, to try and track down photos. I interrogated locals in 7 countries for clues.
Online, hundreds of thousands of people, helped find the unfindable.
